Medals and More …
Well .. we’ve had a good start haven’t we?! First Nicole Cooke won a Gold medal on Sunday in the women’s road race and then Rebecca Adlington and Jo Jackson doubled up in the 400m Freestyle – fantastic! I am loving it all so far – the BBC’s coverage is excellent – I’ve seen so many different sports so far and just love it all! To top it all off, Kevin Pietersen and the lads won by six wickets in the final test against South Africa! YAY!
In other things, going along with my counselling, I have decided to have a complete life makeover – and so far so good! One of the comments the counsellor made was that both times I had seen her, I was wearing all black. I realised that on average, I wear mostly black 9 days out of 10. I made the decision that from today onwards, I will wear more colour to work – all the tops I have in the wardrobe that i haven’t worn for ages will again see the light! I had my hair cut and coloured too on Saturday; back to the way it used to be before I had no money. I got a lot of lovely comments from my colleagues, which was very boosting!
I am also trying to be more organised – it’s not that I am atrocious, more that I am organised in a dis-organised way … if that makes any sense?! I have done some research on the net and joined some mailing lists, as well as buying a few books too .. we’ll see how things go and I will update you when anything fun or interesting happens! One email I received today had some interesting points..
- Make your bed every morning. This is a great psychological start to your day. You’ve put a full-stop on your night’s sleep and, in the back of your mind, you’ll know there’s an orderly place for you to return to.
- Leave your household and car keys in the same place. This way you avoid the inevitable panic stricken search every morning, when you’re already running late.
- Wash up after each dinner. You always mean to, but sometimes you’re just too tired. However sleepy you feel, you’ll rest easier and wake up happier knowing that you don’t have to clean up last night’s mess before facing the new day.
- Hang your clothes in the wardrobe before you go to bed. Your clothes will look less dishevelled, and you’ll be able to find what you want to wear more easily.
- Open your post the minute it arrives (including the bills!) and set aside 10 to 15 minutes to deal with it. Chuck out any junk mail immediately.
I do most of these anyway, but I guess I will give the others a go too – see if it makes me feel more ‘together’!
